Oleg Figovsky was born on April 9, 1940 in Moscow into a family of engineering intellectuals. Started to work at the age of 18 in NII Mosstroy. At the same age of 18 he has created his first invention "Plast-asphalt concrete." When 20, he made his first scientific report on the seminar of Vice President of RAASN S.S. Davydov.
He graduated from the Faculty of Technology VZISI, continuing to work while studying in NII Mosstroy; During this period he wrote the book "The polyether and polyurethane resins in construction" and has created more than 25 inventions, incl. glue "Bustilat", which was produced by more than 20 plants in the USSR.
After graduation he went to work in the corrosion protection laboratory of VNIPI "Teploproekt", and established a scientific school on the chemical resistance of non-metallic materials. After defending his doctoral dissertation he joined the Central Research Institute for industrial buildings of USSR State Building Committee, where he created a series of original compositions and structures of monolithic flooring, has published two books on the floors of industrial buildings and created more than 40 inventions in the field of materials for corrosion protection.
Since 1981, he headed the Department of non-metallic materials of Interdisciplinary Scientific Research Complex "Antikor" of SCST, USSR, where paid special attention to the development of materials for extreme conditions, including nuclear and space industries. Wrote the book "Corrosion service of enterprises" and has created more than 50 inventions, most of which was mastered by industry. At the same time he taught at the Department of Organic Building Materials and Plastics of MICI VV and supervised a number of Ph.D. works.
In 1986 he moved to VNIIN of the USSR Ministry of Chemical Industry as Head of Department "Problems of corrosion protection", while at the same time acting as Deputy Director of the Institute for the coordination of all works on corrosion protection in this ministry. During his time in VNIIN he published several reviews on the protection against corrosion and has created more than 50 inventions, and prepared his doctoral thesis.
Since 1991 he has been working in Israel, first as deputy director of the Israel Corrosion Research Institute (Ramat Hasharon) and director of technological company «Polyadd» (Nazareth Illit), actively publishing in foreign scientific journals and speaking at international conferences, mainly in the field of composite materials for special purposes .
In 1997 Oleg Figovsky created Research and Development Center «Polymate» (Migdal HaEmek), where new materials and processes for their preparation are developed, focusing on nanotechnology processes. In recent years, he has received more than 20 patents (mostly American) and has published more than 50 original scientific papers, including 3 articles in the Encyclopedia of American Colloid and Surface Chemistry. In 2014 he published two monographs "Polymer concretes and compounds" (USA) and "Nanomaterials based on soluble silicates" (Germany).
Currently Prof. Oleg Figovsky is the Director of Research and Development of the American company «Nanotech Industries, Inc» (California, USA), which implies the production of new materials developed under his leadership, including unique nonisocyanate polyurethanes.
Oleg Figovsky combines his research activities with a large publishing and social activity, as editor in chief of three scientific journals in Israel and in the United States, and a member of the editorial boards of 4 magazines in Russia, Ukraine and Poland.
Oleg Figovsky was elected as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences, Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences and the Russian Academy of Engineering. He is an honorary professor of the Voronezh State Architecture and Construction University and Kazan State Technical University. AN Tupolev and an honorary doctor of the Kazan State University of Chemical Technology, Head of UNESCO Chair "Green Chemistry".
He was awarded a number of awards, such as, Golden Angel Prize (IFIA), a sign of "Engineering prowess" (RIA), NASA award (USA) and the USSR State Prize.
More than 15 years Oleg Figovsky is a President of the Association of inventors of Israel and a member of the Presidium of the Russian Nanotechnology Society, he has published large number of scientific articles and has more than 500 inventions.
